Master Technician

MX Expertise Value: Master Technician

When facing scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on your airframe, safety, reliability, and speed of return-to-service are key. The professionals on the floor of the hangar at your maintenance provider make all the difference.

Global MX (GMX) is committed to exceptional customer service and dedicated to getting your aircraft back in the air where it belongs. Completing this mission means a skilled team of specialists including a Master Technician.

The Master Technician designation was created by FlightSafety International in conjunction with aviation manufacturers. The rigorous Master Technician programs provide maintenance professionals with in-depth instruction and real-world practical training.

Master Technician Certification

Robb Keaveney, GMX’s own Master Technician, recently completed his Master Technician certification for Gulfstream G650 airframes. Master TechnicianThis new achievement stacks on top of the Gulfstream GIV Master Technician recognition that Keaveney earned earlier in his career.

Keaveney completed a series of training modules over the course of years in pursuit of his latest Master Tech designation. The final module involved on-site classes in Savannah, GA over the course of a week. Keaveney and other students faced real-life maintenance scenarios in a simulator.

Each of ten challenges involved diagnosing a problem, testing components, and replacing parts as needed. To achieve Master Technician, Keaveney had to conquer each of the scenarios with a final score of 90 or above. He wrapped up the week and the certificate with a score of 98.

Classroom experience aside, Keaveney also leans on his nearly three decades of practical experience.

“When it comes down to having an aircraft come in that’s broken and needs to be finished by the next day, you have to rely on a lot of past experience,” he said. “You name it, it can happen. I’ve seen it where what appears to be the hardest of problems is the simplest.”

No two workdays are the same.

As a Master Technician with years of experience, Keaveney knows that no two days will never be exactly the same. He said, “That’s why I really enjoy my job. Every time I come into work, you know, it can be something completely different.”

He credits the GMX crew for the top-notch service they provide as a team. “The competency is very, very good here. We’re very smart. To work with my teammates and put out a safe product – that is the ultimate. It has to be right and it has to be safe.”

From pre-purchase inspections to scheduled & unscheduled maintenance, customers rely on GMX professionals as their on-call aircraft maintenance partner. With experienced, highly trained staff like Master Technician Robb Keaveney, it’s easy to understand why.
