By Michael Vanacore-Netz, CEO, Global Air Charters
Happy anniversary…albeit somewhat belated.
July 1 marked a milestone for Global Air Charters – the 2023 acquisition of CAVU, a 145 repair station in northeast Pennsylvania. The deal was the first of its kind for GAC and launched a year full of growth for both our charter and new maintenance operations.
During a 107-day transition process, GAC management, CAVU management, and leadership from both companies worked together. As a team, we worked with the FAA to enhance the capabilities and approve operation specifications of the 145 repair station. This included adding the ability to work on, manage, and repair commercial air frames operated under Part 121 and Part 135.
Additionally, we added capabilities to service new airframes. Our maintenance crews now work on the Falcon line of products including Falcon 50, Falcon 2000, Falcon 900, and variants. We’ve also added the Gulfstream line of products including the GIV/GV family and the new G500 and G600 to our growing list.
In the first quarter of 2024, the company changed its name from CAVU to Global MX, becoming part of the “Global” family. Moving forward our intention is to continue adding capabilities including the ability work on more airframes, from manufacturers such as Textron, Gulfstream, Dassault, and Bombardier. Global MX will also enhance the current capabilities with Airbus A320 family of products.
Beyond growing capabilities, we also continue to add to the ranks who will work with Chief Inspector Ray Clapp. Through the remainder of 2024, we plan to hire another 15 employees including line service technicians, avionics technicians, interior specialists, logistics professionals, and parts personnel.
Global MX made key moves in management this year. Nicole Jeffords accepted the VP Maintenance role and will oversee operations at both the Allentown and Hazleton hangars. Shellie Lewis joined Global MX as Director MX Sales to develop relationships and bring new business into our facilities. Each of these aviation professionals adds years of experience and expertise to Global MX as we continue to expand and grow.
The future of Global MX, as well as the future of Global Air Charters, looks extremely bright. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish as a team and to see how we will continue growing together. We are in a unique position to enhance capabilities, grow business, and expand the competitive advantages of both Global Air Charters and Global MX.
I look forward to next year’s acquisition anniversary. Be ready for more good news.
